Tell the Senate: Don’t Use Lies About Abortion as Reasons to Vote Against ACA Subsidies

WASHINGTON - Senate Majority Leader John Thune's latest move to tie anti-abortion language to extend subsidies for the Affordable Care Act is a cynical and dangerous political stunt.

Let's be clear: the Hyde Amendment already bans any federal funds from being used for abortion care. Senate Republicans who crusade against women's reproductive rights are only inventing lies. There is no loophole and no crisis to solve - only a manufactured excuse to restrict reproductive rights nationwide.

Senate Republicans know their constituents urgently depend on ACA subsidies for health care security. Yet they are willing to risk skyrocketing premiums and coverage losses for millions just to score quick ideological points. It's cruelty dressed up as policy.

We need a clean vote on extending health care subsidies - not more posturing, distraction, and lies about abortion.

The Senate must stop playing politics with women's lives.
