Field Office Puntland successfully concluded the third seminar of the Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) Training Programme, conducted from 20 April to 06 May 2026 for 19 Officers of the Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF).
The seminar was designed to strengthen participants' technical expertise and enhance their operational effectiveness across critical maritime domains. It focused on improving their capacity to interpret and enforce the Collision Regulations at sea (COLREG), with specific emphasis on Part A (General Provisions) and Part B (Steering and Sailing Rules - "Rules of the Road"), to support collision prevention and promote safer navigation practices.
The programme also delivered comprehensive instruction in core seamanship competencies, including ship terminology, propulsion systems, hull markings, and nautical chart interpretation. These practical modules equipped participants with the essential skills and operational knowledge required to conduct safe, effective and professional maritime operations.
