Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund Endorses Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller for Re-Election

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund endorsed Mayors Against Illegal Guns member Tim Keller for re-election as Mayor of Albuquerque.

"Mayor Keller has taken bold action on gun safety because he understands that keeping Albuquerque families safe starts with keeping guns out of dangerous hands," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "We're proud to support Mayor Keller for re-election, and know he'll continue building on this life-saving progress in his next term."

"Mayor Keller understands the devastating toll gun violence has taken on Albuquerque families," said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "Mayors are on the frontlines of this crisis, and Albuquerque needs a leader with a proven record of acting boldly to keep communities safe."

As mayor, Tim Keller has prioritized safer communities by taking bold action to prevent gun violence. He has championed Red Flag laws, expanded background checks, and the Bennie Hargrove Gun Safety Act to require the safe storage of firearms around children. Mayor Keller has also banned firearms in public places like parks and schools and launched a high school violence intervention program that has dramatically reduced recidivism and helped students turn their lives around. He has consistently pushed lawmakers to act to combat gun violence, signed executive orders to strengthen public safety, launched the innovative Community Safety Department, and appointed leadership within the police department who share his commitment to gun safety.
