The City of Concord Fire Department will conduct training exercises at the City's water tower located on Highway 73 near the intersection with Kirkwood Drive in Concord. The first training exercise will take place on Monday, April 27, from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with several additional exercises planned throughout the spring.
The water tower exercises are part of Concord Fire's annual Technical Rescue Training Plan and will help firefighters practice and perfect their rope and high angle rescue skills.
During the scheduled training exercises, the public should expect to see several fire apparatuses at the water tower. Most of the training will be done inside the water tower, however, if time and weather permits, fire crews will conduct one rescue simulation outside. During this rescue simulation, the public will see fire personnel using rope systems to simulate lowering a victim from the top or side of the water tower.
The training exercises will take place from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are currently scheduled on the following dates: April 27, May 4, May 13, June 1, June 16, and July 1.
Motorists traveling through the area and residents are reminded this is a training exercise only. Motorists are asked to keep traffic flowing and individuals should only call 911 if they are experiencing a life-threatening emergency.
