WNC Child Development Center Celebrates Preschool Graduates, Their Preparedness for Next Step

Jun 5, 2026

Adorable smiles, spirited songs and proud family moments filled Carson Nugget Hall as the Western Nevada College Child Development Center celebrated its annual Preschool Graduation on Friday, June 5, marking an exciting milestone for its young learners.

The ceremony honored 18 children who have completed their preschool journey and are preparing to take the next big step into kindergarten. Family members, friends and educators gathered to recognize the graduates' growth and achievements during their time at the center.

Throughout the year, students have explored the world around them through hands-on learning experiences designed to build confidence, curiosity and essential early learning skills. From developing friendships and communication skills to discovering the foundations of reading, math and problem-solving, each child has made meaningful strides on their educational journey.

"The preschool graduation ceremony is one of our favorite traditions because it celebrates how much our children have grown," said Anna Lisa Acosta-Rogers, Director of the Child Development Center, who led the ceremony. "It's amazing to see the confidence, creativity and enthusiasm they bring each day. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and excited to see them begin their kindergarten adventures."

The graduation ceremony featured special recognition of each student, providing families with an opportunity to celebrate the hard work, determination and joyful learning of their children. Each child received an award. Some of the awards presented were for best listener, most animated, most cheerful, ray of sunshine, most vivid imagination, kind leader, extraordinary effort, positive peer, best social butterfly. They also entertained the audience with songs including "I'm on My Way," "Ready to Go," and "Can't Stop the Feeling (Wildcat version)."

While the event marked the end of one chapter, it also served as the beginning of a new one. Equipped with new skills, lasting friendships and a love of learning, the graduates leave the Child Development Center ready to embrace the opportunities that await them in elementary school.

For the educators who have guided them along the way, the ceremony was a reminder of the important role early childhood education plays in helping children discover their strengths and reach their potential.
