New Boston-based chapter will provide students with professional development, networking and leadership opportunities
NEW YORK, Sept. 23, 2026 - The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) today announced the establishment of a new Chapter at Suffolk University in Boston, expanding opportunities for students to connect classroom learning with real-world experience in the public relations and communications profession.
Housed within Suffolk's Department of Advertising, Public Relations, & Social Media, the Chapter supports the university's commitment to experiential learning, career readiness and social mobility.
"Welcoming Suffolk University to PRSSA is an investment in the future of our profession," said Matthew Marcial, CAE, APR, chief executive officer of PRSA. "By connecting classroom learning with real-world experiences, professional relationships and opportunities to lead, PRSSA helps prepare the next generation of communicators to enter the profession with confidence and a strong foundation for success."
The Chapter will also create a supportive community where students can develop skills, build professional networks and gain industry insights, reflecting Suffolk's commitment to empowering diverse and first-generation college students.
"I'm thrilled to help bring PRSSA to Suffolk University and couldn't imagine a better way to begin the Fall 2026 semester," said Rosalynn Vasquez, assistant professor of public relations and faculty adviser. "Our students are eager to engage with the profession beyond the classroom, and PRSSA will provide opportunities to connect with industry professionals here in Boston, develop leadership skills and gain hands-on experience."
Before entering academia, Vasquez spent 15 years in corporate, agency and nonprofit public relations and currently serves on the board of PRSA Boston.
Suffolk's Department of Advertising, Public Relations, & Social Media offers undergraduate and graduate programs in public relations, advertising, social media and communication, including an accelerated bachelor's/master's degree program.
The addition of Suffolk University advances PRSSA's mission to help students enhance their education, broaden their professional networks and prepare for successful careers in public relations and communications.
