Cheval Blanc Seychelles celebrates the art of Joël Andrianomearisoa

In December 2024 Cheval Blanc unveiled its sixth Maison in the heart of the Indian Ocean: Cheval Blanc Seychelles, nestled along the southwest coast of Mahé, overlooking the pristine Anse Intendance.

Designed by architect Jean-Michel Gathy, this intimate and exclusive haven features 52 villas surrounded by lush nature.

To mark the opening the Maison asked well-known contemporary artist Joël Andrianomearisoa to create a unique work entitled Un Souffle du Temps sur la Mélodie de nos Songes (A Breath of Time on the Melody of Our Dreams).

In a series of poetic creations, the Malagasy artist deploys a sensitive language inspired by the contrasts of Mahé Island - the white of the fine sandy beaches, the black of the volcanic rocks, the deep green of the jungle, and the intense blue of the ocean. His textile works, presented in 52 unique shades-one for each villa-ripple with the light and movement of the air, like living iterations of the landscape.

At Le White restaurant, designed as a veritable 'white cube', Joël Andrianomearisoa created a series of in-situ monumental canvases with vibrant patterns. This holistic approach extends to every detail: a logo designed by the artist, exclusive tableware created in collaboration with Bernardaud, and even the delicate embroidery on the uniforms worn by the Cheval BlancArtisans.

"From walls to the napkins, a journey of rhythm, the melody of a dream, touch our hearts," says the artist, who approaches each project as an exciting and all-encompassing adventure.

A graduate of the École Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris, Joël Andrianomearisoa lives and works between Antananarivo and Paris. His work, exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2019, the Centre Pompidou, and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., is renowned for its ability to give form to emotions.

At Cheval Blanc Seychelles, the artist has conceived an unprecedented creation at the intersection of art, design, and hospitality, offering guests an experience where art engages in intimate dialogue with nature and the French art of hospitality.
