Palmer Gallery Features Regional Talent in Fall Exhibitions

A highlight of the exhibition has been the inclusion of watercolor paintings by Muskingum University's new president Dr. Flavius Lilly, whose work offered gallery visitors a unique opportunity to engage with his artistic perspective. Dr. Lilly's work will be on extended display through Homecoming Weekend, providing one more way for the Muskingum Community to get to know the president's many facets. The exhibition has also featured new works by Muskingum's art faculty, professors John Drubel and Tom German, reinforcing the artistic practices that inform their classroom teaching.

The gallery has also served as a teaching space, with Muskingum students incorporating the exhibition into classroom assignments, and attending a guest lecture presented by Philista Marie Mills, one of the show's featured artists, on September 16.

Fine art will continue to thrive at Muskingum with two additional shows in the coming weeks. The Vision of Talented Students will run from October 9-29, featuring works of outstanding high school artists who will be competing for Muskingum art scholarship awards. This show and the previous one have both been meticulously curated by Emeritus Professor of Art, Yan Sun. The final show of the semester will feature Muskingum senior Art and Design majors in their capstone exhibition, which will run from November 9 to December 3.
