Congressman Gabe Evans Celebrates House Passage of FY27 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Bill

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Gabe Evans voted to pass the Fiscal Year 2027 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies (MilCon-VA) Appropriations Act, legislation that fully funds veterans' health care and benefits, strengthens military readiness, and invests in the quality of life of servicemembers and military families.

The legislation provides $157 billion in discretionary funding for military construction, veterans affairs, and related agencies - alongside $329.9 billion in mandatory funding for veterans programs and benefits.

"As a veteran, I understand firsthand the sacrifices our servicemembers and their families make every single day. When our men and women in uniform raise their right hand to serve this country, we make a promise to support them - both while they serve and after they return home. This bill helps fulfill that promise by fully funding veterans' care and benefits, strengthening military readiness, improving housing and infrastructure for military families, and investing in mental health resources for those who have sacrificed so much for our nation." - Congressman Gabe Evans

The FY27 MilCon-VA Appropriations Act fully funds veterans' medical care and veterans' benefits, including support for toxic exposure-related care and services. The bill also maintains funding for mental health programs, suicide prevention efforts, medical research, and Community Care programs that help veterans access specialized care closer to home.

In addition, the legislation invests more than $19 billion in military construction and family housing projects, including funding to improve barracks, child development centers, military housing oversight, and critical infrastructure supporting national security missions and advanced weapons systems.

Congressman Evans secured language in this appropriations bill that further strengthens the VA's intention to build a new medical clinic in Weld County. Colorado's Eighth Congressional District is the only district in the state without a VA medical clinic, leaving our vulnerable veterans to travel extended distances to receive the care they have rightfully earned.

The bill includes more than $2 billion in capital improvements for VA medical facilities and national cemeteries to ensure veterans and their families continue receiving the care, dignity, and support they deserve.
