Children and young people visiting Oxfordshire Museum will be able to enjoy high-quality learning experiences backed by robust safety standards, after the museum was awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge.
The museum, in Woodstock, is run by Oxfordshire County Council and has achieved national recognition for the quality of its educational visits.
The LOtC Quality Badge is the only scheme that recognises both the quality of learning and the effectiveness of risk management. It is awarded by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom.
Councillor Neil Fawcett, Deputy Leader of Oxfordshire County Council said: "We want every child and young person to have inspiring, safe opportunities to learn beyond the classroom.
"Being awarded the LOtC Quality Badge is a fantastic achievement for the team and shows that we offer young people high-quality learning experiences, and we look forward to welcoming even more schools, children and young people to the museum in Woodstock."
The application was funded by the Friends of the Oxfordshire Museum, a volunteer led charity dedicated to supporting and enhancing the museum.
Edward Dowler, Chair of Trustees, Friends of the Oxfordshire Museum, said: "A very important objective of The Friends is to enhance children's learning when they visit the museum. We are delighted that our financial support enabled the museum to achieve this award."
The LOtC Quality Badge is endorsed by the Department for Education. It is held by many of the UK's leading providers of educational visits and helps schools choose venues with high standards of learning and risk management.
