Chief Judge James Biernat, Jr. appointed Maryanne Deneweth as the new Macomb County Probate Court Administrator. The Probate Court is a separate Court which Judge Biernat is Chief Judge. Probate Court is comprised of the Wills and Estates Division and the Mental Health Division; it is the venue for administration of deceased persons' estates and related matters, trusts, adult and minor guardianship/conservatorship, mental health cases, and matters for those persons with developmental disabilities. The Macomb County Probate Court has three Judges, Hon. Sandra A. Harrison, Hon. Sara A. Schimke, and Hon. Aaron J. Hall, and 36 employees.
Maryanne has worked for the Macomb County Probate Court since becoming the Director of Legal Services in 2023 and was serving as Interim Deputy Court Administrator at the time of this appointment. Prior to coming to the Court, she was a partner at Kirk, Huth, Lange & Badalamenti in Clinton Township from 2000-2023. She is a graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School and Michigan State University.
She is in a unique position to use her experience at the Macomb County Probate Court and her prior professional experience to help the Court provide the citizens of Macomb County with efficient and fair resolution of Probate matters. She is an advocate for promoting a work environment where employees feel valued and heard while serving our citizens and supporting the Court initiatives consistent with State and Federal standards.
This position was open due to the recent retirement of the former Deputy Court Administrator/Probate Register, John Brennan, who had been with Macomb County for 15 years, following a long career in private law practice and in Macomb Township.
Chief Judge Biernat stated, "Maryanne has been an invaluable asset to the Probate Court. Her experience within the Court and her prior professional experiences will be an opportunity to bring a new and innovative period of growth to the Probate Court. I am confident that she will lead the Probate Court to the next level of public service."
