Events to be Held in Philly During Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Join the Office of Domestic Violence Strategies and community partners in recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). During SAAM, we seek to create greater awareness and prevention of sexual violence, harassment, and abuse.

The theme of this year's SAAM is "25 Years Stronger: Looking Back, Moving Forward." April 2026 is the official 25th anniversary of SAAM. We need YOU to get involved! Learn about local resources and events where you can get involved during SAAM and beyond:

PREVENT: Building Alliances Against Child Sexual Abuse Community Conference.

Join the Philadelphia Children's Alliance for their annual community prevention conference. Caregivers, community members, and professionals who want to learn more about preventing child sexual abuse in Philadelphia are invited to attend this free conference. Please note that registration is required.

Show your support to survivors of sexual harassment and abuse by wearing teal, the color of sexual violence prevention, and posting a selfie on social media with the hashtag #SAAM2026. This day is observed nationally on the first Tuesday of April.

Join the Office of Domestic Violence Strategies, WOAR, and community partners to take a group photo to show solidarity with survivors of sexual assault. Wear teal and meet us in the park! The photo will be taken at 1:15 p.m. and will be shared on social media. If you want to participate from elsewhere:

  1. Wear your favorite teal outfit and take a selfie.
  2. Post your selfie and share resources about sexual assault or a supportive message with #TealDayPhilly. Here are some examples: "I believe survivors," "I support survivors," or "No one deserves sexual assault."

Join the Philadelphia Coalition for Victim Advocacy, the School District of Philadelphia Office of School Safety, and the Pennsylvania Office of the State Schools Advocate for a candle lighting ceremony in recognition of National Crime Victims' Rights Week. Join the 16th annual Take Back the Night march. This is an opportunity for all survivors, supporters, and anyone impacted by sexual or domestic violence to break the silence and come together. The march will lead to the First Unitarian Church, where there will be resource tables, a survivor speak-out, refreshments, and a candlelight vigil.
