Denounce The FY27 Presidential Budget

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - On April 3rd, the Trump-Vance Administration released its Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 budget proposal. Similar to last year's "skinny budget," the FY27 budget takes aim at contraception access and sexual health information by proposing to eliminate the Title X Family Planning Program (Title X) and the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (TPP), critical sexual and reproductive health programs. The budget also maintains harmful abortion riders, including the Hyde Amendment, and further undermines access to health care.

In response, Power to Decide Interim Co-CEO and Vice President, Policy and Strategic Partnerships, Rachel Fey, issued the following statement:

"As an organization dedicated to improving reproductive well-being for all, we are not surprised but remain deeply disappointed by this administration's continued attack on basic reproductive health care. After taking a wrecking ball to health coverage and access through its so-called 'One Big Beautiful Bill,' the administration is now proposing to dismantle one of the few programs that provides care to people without health insurance. Programs like TPP and Title X are critical sources of information and family planning services for communities across the country, delivering essential health care to millions who rely on them.

"As if targeting family planning services, medically accurate information, and evidence-based care weren't enough, this budget also takes aim at essential providers like Planned Parenthood and further restricts gender-affirming care-all of which further marginalizes people of color, LGBTQ folks, and those with lower incomes. At the same time, it maintains funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP). Funding institutions and programs that terrorize communities while cutting access to health care is cruel.

We urge Congress to draft and pass funding bills that meet the needs of people across the country and are rooted in compassion and care. This proposed budget fails at all levels to meet that standard. As the appropriations process continues, Power to Decide will continue to do all we can to support policies that expand access to reproductive well-being and ensure people can get the care they need."
