Fall Gilbert Citizens’ Police Academy Applications Now Open

Gilbert, Ariz. - The Gilbert Police Department is now accepting applications for the Fall session of the Gilbert Citizens' Police Academy! This 10-week program offers Gilbert residents an engaging, behind-the-scenes look at police operations, specialized units, and the people who serve our community every day.

Beginning Wednesday, September 16, 2026, participants will attend weekly classes from 6-8 PM.

Graduation will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.

Academy Highlights Include:

• K-9 Unit
• Tactical Operations Unit (SWAT)
• Patrol Operations
• Criminal Investigations
• Drug & Gang Enforcement
• Traffic & DUI Laws
• Firearms Safety and Orientation
• Dispatch Operations
• Tactical Driving

This immersive academy provides residents with valuable insights into the daily responsibilities, challenges, and innovative techniques utilized by the Gilbert Police Department. Upon graduation, attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion and an invitation to join the Citizens' Police Academy Alumni Association.

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Must be 18 years or older at the time of application

2. Must live, work, or attend school in the Town of Gilbert

3. No prior felony arrests

4. No misdemeanor arrests within the past five years

5. Must successfully pass a background check conducted by the Gilbert Police Department
