SEMO, TSU Partner to Create a New Pathway for Athletic Training Students

The partnership provides TSU students interested in becoming athletic trainers with a direct pathway to enter SEMO's MSAT program.

Dr. David Tomchuk, interim program director of the MSAT, said partnering with Tennessee State University was a natural fit, as both institutions are members of the Ohio Valley Conference.

"Tennessee State is a similar institution to SEMO," said Tomchuk. "Their exercise science program is strong and has many graduates who are interested in athletic training. Their faculty provide an excellent pre-professional education and are supportive of their students getting into graduate healthcare programs."

"This pathway is a significant first step toward increasing enrollment in our MSAT program and fulfilling our mission of preparing athletic trainers to serve the communities of our region," said Interim Director of the School of Health Sciences, Dr. Kyle Schneider. "By reducing barriers to graduate education, we are creating opportunities for students to pursue their professional goals and return home equipped to make a meaningful impact through patient care."
