City of Gainesville officials invite area neighbors to a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Gainesville Police Department (GPD) Property and Evidence Building.

A new three-story, 24,112 square-foot facility will be built to accommodate the growing volume of GPD property and evidence. The facility, which is expected to be completed in the summer of 2027, will support organized storage, efficient processing and easy retrieval of evidence critical to investigations and prosecutions.

In December 2025, the Gainesville City Commission approved funding for the $19 million project through a bank loan secured by the Streets, Stations & Strong Foundations (SSSF) Surtax Program.
