Joint Statement following the Political Dialogue Meeting between the Deputy Foreign Ministers of the Hellenic Republic and the Republic of Türkiye (Athens, 20.01.2026)

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairsof the Hellenic Republic, Ambassador Alexandra Papadopoulou, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay, met in Athens on 20 January 2026 and held the 5^th round of bilateral consultations in the framework of the Political Dialogue that had been established between the two countries in 2023.

The Deputy Ministers discussed various aspects of the bilateral relations, reviewed the developments since the last meeting of the Political Dialogue that took place in Ankara in June 2025 and had an extensive exchange on recent developments regarding regional and international issues.

Furthermore, the two counterparts also examined the preparations concerning the 6^th High Level Cooperation Council, planned to take place in Türkiye in the coming period.

The meeting was held in a positive atmosphere with both sides reaffirming their joint commitment to further expanding areas of bilateral and international cooperation.
