The first Council meeting of the year is always a time for fresh beginnings and an important yearly tradition: transitioning the role of Vice Mayor.
The Vice Mayor serves in a leadership role on the Council, helping lead Council meetings, presiding in the Mayor's absence, and representing Gilbert at community and regional events and initiatives throughout the year.
Bobbi Buchli joined the Gilbert Town Council after being elected in November 2022 and officially sworn in January 2023. Since then, she's been dedicated to making thoughtful decisions and planning for Gilbert's long-term success, always with the goal of supporting growth while preserving the quality of life that makes our town special.
As Vice Mayor, Bobbi has been especially proud of her work to help secure Gilbert's future water supply, including efforts related to Colorado River planning. She has also been a strong advocate for small businesses, bringing practical insights and experience to Council discussions. In addition, Bobbi serves as the Council liaison to the Higley Unified School District Governing Board, helping strengthen the connection between the Town and local schools. She also serves as a liaison to Gilbert's Water Resources Municipal Property Corporation, the Gilbert Utility Board, and the Tourism Action Group.
One of the most rewarding parts of her service has been helping guide development projects from design to completion, knowing these investments will shape Gilbert for generations to come.
The Mayor and Council extend their heartfelt thanks to former Vice Mayor Buchli for her dedication and leadership. And congratulations to Chuck Bongiovanni, who will step into the role of Vice Mayor for the coming year!
