The President received letters of credence from the ambassadors of Namibia, Ecuador, and Guatemala

On Wednesday, President Gitanas Nausėda received letters of credence from Ambassador Gebhard Benjamin Kandanga of the Republic of Namibia, Ambassador Francisco Albornoz Guarderas of the Republic of Ecuador, and Ambassador Sandra Noriega Urizar de Kugler of the Republic of Guatemala.

During the meeting with the Ambassador of Namibia, President Gitanas Nausėda emphasized that the partnership between Lithuania and Namibia has continued for more than two decades, with Namibia regarded as an important partner for both Lithuania and the European Union in Africa. According to the President, Lithuania sees significant potential for strengthening bilateral economic and trade cooperation. He also noted that Lithuania has accumulated substantial expertise in information technology, e-government, cybersecurity, financial technologies, renewable energy, agriculture, and the food industry, and is ready to share this experience with Namibia.

The President welcomed the fact that the two countries are connected not only by diplomatic and economic ties but also by close people-to-people contacts. Members of the Litvak community have lived in Namibia for more than a century and have made significant contributions to the country's economic and public life. One of the most prominent examples is Harold Pupkewitz, whose work and legacy remain an important part of Namibia's history and business environment.

In his meeting with the Ambassador of Ecuador, the President stressed that Lithuania is open to exploring mutually beneficial market opportunities, which would help further strengthen the positive trend in bilateral trade. In Lithuania's view, the greatest potential for mutually beneficial cooperation lies in the fertilizer, information and communication technology, and financial technology sectors.

President Gitanas Nausėda also noted that Lithuania supports international commitments to ensure the responsible use of artificial intelligence and invited Ecuador to join the Vilnius Convention - the world's first legally binding international treaty aimed at protecting human rights from the risks posed by artificial intelligence.

During his meeting with the Ambassador of Guatemala, the President stated that Lithuania is ready to strengthen bilateral trade and develop mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in the fields of information and communication technologies and financial technologies. Lithuanian ICT companies have already contributed to Guatemala's digital transformation by providing consulting services for the design and implementation of an Electronic Registry of Encumbrances over Movable Property.

According to the President, Lithuania is well known as a favorable jurisdiction for financial technology companies and remains an important gateway for international fintech firms seeking access to European markets. He therefore invited Guatemalan companies to take advantage of the benefits offered by Lithuania's regulatory environment and to establish partnerships with companies operating in Lithuania.

President Gitanas Nausėda also welcomed Guatemala's principled position in support of a lasting peace in Ukraine and its consistent voting in favor of all related United Nations General Assembly resolutions.
