Chinese Ambassador to PNG Yang Xiaoguang Attends the Welcome Ceremony for Chinese PLAN Hospital Ship Silk Road Ark’s Visit to PNG

On April 8, the Chinese PLAN hospital ship Silk Road Ark arrived in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Chinese Ambassador to PNG H.E. Yang Xiaoguang, Minister for Health Hon. Elias Kapavore, Commander of PNG Defense Force Rear Admiral Philip Polwera, along with around 200 representatives from various sectors of PNG, Chinese companies, and Chinese communities, attended the welcome ceremony.

Ambassador Yang emphasized that the visit of the Silk Road Ark Hospital Ship fully demonstrates the profound friendship of the Chinese people toward the people of PNG, and is also a concrete demonstration of China's commitment to building a community with a shared future for humanity. The Chinese side is ready to work hand in hand with all PNG friends to further deepen the China-PNG comprehensive strategic partnership for the greater benefits of both countries and peoples.

Minister Kapavore welcomed the hospital ship's visit, thanked China for its long-standing support to PNG's economic and social development, and expressed hope for further deepening China-PNG health cooperation.

Commander of the hospital shipRear Admiral Fang Jinsong expressed gratitude to the PNG side for its warm reception and said that the hospital ship will provide high-quality medical services to the PNGpeople, contributing to the China-PNG friendship.

The visit of the Silk Road Ark marks the third visit of a Chinesehospital ship to PNG, following the visits of the Peace Ark hospital shipin 2014 and 2018. During the visit, the hospital ship will provide high-quality and free medical services to local communities, and will also carry out activities such as courtesy visits and meetings, professional exchanges, and friendly match.
