Grade Separation Update Sharing Community Feedback & Next Steps

This past month, the City of Palo Alto and Caltrain continued community engagement on the Palo Alto Grade Separation Project, sharing 15% design concepts and gathering feedback from the community on improvements at the Churchill Avenue, Meadow Drive, and Charleston Road rail crossings. The current concepts reflect continued technical analysis and community input focused on improving safety, reducing conflicts between rail and roadway users, reducing potential property impacts, and improving access throughout the corridor. Through two meetings, community members learned about the design plans, total rough order of magnitude (ROM) project costs, and preliminary construction schedules. This new community update offers a recap of feedback heard, and next steps including City Council consideration advancing the project to 35% design and environmental documentation phase on Monday, September 28.
