CongratulatoryRemarks by H.E. Park Yoonjoo First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs at
the 80th Anniversary of the National Day of Viet Nam, August 29, 2025
Your Excellency Ambassador Vu Ho(부호),
Excellencies,
Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen.
Good evening,
신짜오,
Congratulations on the 80th Anniversary of the National Day of Viet Nam. This year's anniversary is even more meaningful,
as it also marks the 80th Liberation Day of Korea.
As President Lee mentioned,
Viet Nam is a great nation of great people.
Under the guidance of its Leaders,
Viet Nam has emerged as one of the world's most vibrant and rapidly growing economies.
In addition, Viet Nam has pursued ambitious reforms to strengthen governance and empower
the private sector as a driver of innovation and growth.
As Viet Nam embarks on its journey towards
a modern industrialized country by 2030 and
a high-income country by 2045,
Korea will remain a steadfast partner for shared prosperity and sustainable growth.
Today, Korea and Viet Nam are each other's third largest trading partner, and Korea is the largest investor in Viet Nam.
People-to-people exchanges are also robust. Koreans are the largest group among all foreigners visiting Viet Nam, and there are nearly
100,000 multicultural families of Korean and Vietnamese background residing in Korea.
Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Such remarkable progress in our bilateral relations was made possible not only through our cultural similarities and economic complementarity,
but also through the strong political will of our Leaders.
Most recently, the State Visit of the Secretary-General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam marked a historic milestone.
The visit was the first by a Head of State since the inauguration of Korea's new government,
and the first visit by the Secretary-General of Viet Nam in eleven years.
At the summit, the two Leaders agreed to further strengthen our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, in areas encompassing political and security cooperation, trade and investment, science and technology, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
To this end, Korea and Viet Nam will continue high-level exchanges and further leverage the Korea-Viet Nam FTA to enhance bilateral trade.
In addition, we will strengthen future-oriented cooperation in strategic fields of large-scale infrastructure, defense, energy, critical minerals, and scientific research.
Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen.
The Founding Father of Viet Nam,
President Ho Chi Minh once said: "To reap
a return in ten years, plant trees; to reap a return in a hundred years, cultivate the people."
I look forward to our relationship flourishing and enduring for the next one hundred years,
based on the goodwill and friendship between our peoples.
Thank you.
