The Starlink Mini is designed for portability, making it easy to carry in a backpack. Speed tests on a Starlink residential service plan have shown impressive results, with download speeds reaching 136 Mbps and upload speeds at 7.5 Mbps. These speeds are more than sufficient for streaming your favorite shows or participating in video conferences. The energy-efficient Mini operates on a modest 25 to 40 watts, making it a practical choice for users on the go.
Despite being half the size of the Standard model, the Mini offers the same impressive speeds. It comes equipped with a built-in router, a kickstand, a pipe adapter, and a 15-meter cable, making it an excellent supplemental broadband option for fixed networks. However, keep in mind that Starlink residential plans do not guarantee data volume or consistency in service availability.
The Starlink Standard kit, or Residential Gen 3, is designed for fixed installations in homes and small businesses. It delivers download speeds between 25 and 150 Mbps and upload speeds of 5 to 20 Mbps. The kit includes a 15-meter cable and an external Gen 3 Starlink router. Speedcast frequently installs this model in regions where Starlink Performance kits aren't available, often integrating it with our Speedcast SIGMA network management platform for enhanced performance.

The Performance version of Starlink does not come with a router, requiring users to select between Starlink's or a third-party device to meet their needs. This is an important consideration for enterprise users, as connecting to the internet without a router can compromise network management and security, hampering communication between devices. For Speedcast customers, we utilize our SIGMA edge networking platform to create a robust and reliable virtual network with maximum uptime.
The SIGMA intelligent edge network management platform seamlessly integrates Starlink with various connectivity paths, including LEO, GEO, MEO, L-band, cellular, and microwave. This integration forms a single, virtual wide-area network, empowering users to visualize and customize their services effortlessly. By incorporating smaller routing functions, SIGMA enhances visibility at remote sites, allowing for expanded hardware options and reduced costs while maximizing existing investments. With a flexible architecture, SIGMA meets diverse and evolving business needs, enabling organizations to choose tailored solutions that best fit their requirements. By processing data at the edge, the intelligent edge network improves performance and drives cost savings, making it a vital tool for organizations looking to optimize their connectivity and network management.
As the largest integrator of Starlink, Speedcast has been actively testing and deploying this innovative technology for our customers, enhancing their remote operations. Our expertise and dedication to continuous improvement ensure that we continually enhance Starlink services that support critical business functions with reliable connectivity.
