With damaging storms forecast for large parts of Queensland on Saturday, including SEQ and NSW border, Darling Downs, Central Queensland and up to Capricornia, IAG is urging residents to act now to prepare their homes, vehicles and businesses for more wild weather.
"IAG's Major Event Response team is currently tracking the super-cell thunderstorms predicted for this weekend. Our on-the-ground response team are on standby to mobilise and support impacted customers," Mr Gallagher said.
"Now is the time to prepare your property for wild weather. If it is safe to do so, secure any debris, outdoor and lose items around your property. Close windows and check window seals to avoid wind-driven rain entering your home.
"Clear your gutters and drains to help prevent any storm water damage, and if you are able to, trim any overhanging branches and trees that could cause damage during high winds. Park your car away from trees and undercover if possible to reduce the risk of hail damage."
During a severe thunderstorm, safety is the number one priority. Stay up to date with emergency warnings and avoid travel. It's always a good idea to have an emergency kit prepared with power banks, batteries, medications, water, first aid kit and pet essentials.

To enhance its response, IAG is using its Situational Awareness Mapping technology, which combines customer data with real-time hazard intelligence to prioritise emergency repairs and proactively reach out to customers who may not have lodged claims.
Mr Gallagher also warned communities to be cautious of opportunistic disaster chasers.
"We know during consecutive weather events, disaster chasers are quick to mobilise to take advantage of people, so we urge customers and communities to be mindful of these fake-operators."
