Washington, DC - TODAY, Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI) issued the following statement on the House passage of a partisan Continuing Resolution:
"Over and over again, Republicans have refused to fund the government in a way that prioritizes the American people and lowers costs.
Instead, they've repeatedly shut down the government so that they could rip health care away from millions of Americans and allow immigration agents to terrorize our communities.
Once again, they're trying to ram through a reckless Continuing Resolution. This time lifting the block on Border Patrol funding and writing a blank check to an organization whose officers killed an American citizen exercising his First Amendment rights.
I voted against this rash Republican Continuing Resolution and will keep fighting for a real funding deal that puts the American people first. We have months to negotiate, so I urge my Republican colleagues to do the right thing and come to the table so we can fund the government responsibly and address the cost of living concerns of the American people."
