University Hospital is the Highest-Ranked Hospital in North Jersey on Forbes 2026 List of Best Employers in New Jersey

University Hospital Jumps 11 Slots Over Last Year

August 17, 2026 - University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey climbed 11 spots over last year's ranking on Forbes' list of America's Best Employers by State to become the highest-ranking hospital in all of North Jersey on the list. University Hospital is the only state-designated Level I Trauma Center for all of Northern New Jersey and the principal teaching hospital for Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

Forbes annually produces a ranking of the best employers in each State. Rankings are based on employee feedback on critical issues like workplace culture, career advancement opportunities, compensation and benefits, and the likelihood of recommending an employer to others, among other analytics. For New Jersey's 2026 employer list, University Hospital ranks 28th up from 39th last year. Forbes produces the annual listing in partnership with the market research firm Statista.
