Lane Closure - Cliff Avenue

Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, the outside southbound lane of South Cliff Avenue will be closed between 16th Street and 17th Street.

City of Sioux Falls Water Maintenance crews will be making repairs to a water main. The work is expected to be completed and traffic control removed by the end of the same day.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane Closures - Marion Road

Overlay Project Marion Road

Beginning on Monday, September 14, 2026, motorists should expect various lane closures and traffic control changes along South Marion Road in the area of 26th Street as preparation begins for an upcoming mill and overlay project.

The preparation work will include edge milling and cleaning out roadway joints along South Marion Road on both the north and south sides of 26th Street. Traffic control will shift as work progresses along the roadway, and motorists should be prepared for changing lane closures and work zones throughout the week.

The preparation work is anticipated to continue through the week of Monday, September 14, 2026, with the mill and overlay work projected to begin the week of Monday, September 21, 2026. Additional traffic changes and lane closures will occur as construction progresses.

The final phase of the project will begin after the overlay and includes joint repair work in the center of intersection of 26th Street and Marion Road.

The project is anticipated to be completed in late October 2026.

Beginning on Monday, September 14, 2026, the inside southbound lane of South Minnesota Avenue will be closed between 69th Street and St Andrews Drive to allow the contractor to complete concrete repairs.

The repairs are anticipated to be finished in two weeks, weather permitting.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane Closure - Minnesota Avenue

Beginning on Monday, September 14, 2026, the outside northbound lane of South Minnesota Avenue will be closed between 81st Street and 85th Street to allow the contractor to complete concrete repairs.

The repairs are anticipated to be finished in one week, weather depending.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane & Sidewalk Closure - Sycamore Avenue

Beginning on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the outside northbound lane of South Sycamore Avenue will be closed between 42nd Street and 41st Street to allow crews to perform sidewalk repairs. The east sidewalk along South Sycamore Avenue will also be closed. Pedestrians will be detoured to the west sidewalk.

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be completed within two days.

Lane & Sidewalk Closure - 41st Street

Beginning on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the outside eastbound lane of East 41st Street will be closed between Veterans Parkway and Grand Slam Avenue to allow crews to perform sidewalk repairs. The south sidewalk along East 41st Street will also be closed. Pedestrians will be detoured to the north sidewalk.

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be completed within two days.

Street Closure - 20th Street

20th Street Reconstruction Project

Beginning on Monday, September 14, 2026, the next phase of this project will begin. Traffic will not be permitted past the 20th Street and 8th Avenue intersection as construction work begins west of 8th Avenue. Work on this project includes underground utility improvements, concrete surfacing, sidewalks, and street lighting.

Access Information:

  • Access to parking ramps will be from Cliff Avenue.
  • Access to Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital and Avera Plaza 4 will be from Cliff Avenue.
  • Access to Avera's loading docks will be from Cliff Avenue.
  • Access to Avera McGreevy's Clinic will be from 7th Avenue.

Emergency Services Access:

Emergency responders are advised to access the Avera Emergency Room from 7th Avenue for the duration of this phase of construction. Motorists are encouraged to utilize 17th Street or 26th Street to access 7th Avenue.

Pedestrian Access:

Pedestrian routes will be signed, and Audible Information Devices (AIDs) will be provided to assist those navigating the detour.

The project is expected to be completed in early November 2026.
