Element Huntsville Established as Strategic Hub for Innovation

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - May 1, 2026: Element Materials Technology ("Element"), a global leader in testing, inspection and certification, today announced a major expansion of its Huntsville laboratory.

The investment follows other recent investments across Element's global network - all designed to further establish its leadership position in delivering mission-critical testing for aerospace, space, energy and defense customers looking to bring next-generation systems to market.

Located in America's 'defense and space capital', following last year's decision to permanently relocate the U.S. Space Command headquarters to the city, Element Huntsville provides advanced testing capabilities, backed by Element's global network and consistent quality standards.

In addition to its leading nuclear testing capabilities, Element Huntsville has expanded its infrastructure, engineering expertise, and environmental, dynamics, and EMI/EMC services - enabling customers to run entire critical test programmes in a single facility, simplifying logistics and accelerating time to market.

Qualification services include vibration, shock, MIPS, thermal, vacuum, acoustic and electromagnetic compatibility testing. These capabilities support customers from early development through qualification and sustainment, helping ensure performance, reliability and compliance as systems approach certification.

Corey Demidovich, Element's Senior Vice President for Aerospace and Energy in the Americas, said:

"This expansion cements Huntsville as a strategic U.S. hub for advanced testing. We're investing so customers can qualify next-generation systems faster, with fewer handoffs and greater confidence - especially on complex aerospace, space and defense programs."

The investment has also enabled Element Huntsville to launch dedicated product qualification testing for small modular reactor programs - an industry first - so nuclear developers and supply chain partners can test materials and components under demanding conditions, assess structural integrity, fatigue and long-term durability, and verify safety-critical performance and regulatory compliance, helping reduce risk and accelerate qualification as SMR technologies scale.

Demidovich added: "With our first-of-its-kind SMR qualification testing in Huntsville, we're building on decades of experience supporting oil and gas in the harshest conditions - and bringing that same rigor to nuclear, hydrogen and other emerging technologies as the world transitions."
