Cassidy Introduces Legislation to Keep Louisiana Gas Pipelines Safe and Secure

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) introduced the American Energy Security Act of 2025 to reauthorize the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration's (PHMSA) Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety and Modernization (NGDISM) Grant Program. The program, originally authorized through Cassidy's infrastructure bill, provides grants for natural gas distribution pipeline infrastructure safety and modernization.

"America and the world run on Louisiana natural gas,"said Dr. Cassidy. "We strengthen our country by strengthening our pipeline system."

Since the program started, Louisiana has received $95 million in funding for pipeline infrastructure safety and modernization.

  • $52.7 million for Donaldsonville, West Feliciana Parish, East Feliciana Parish, East Baton Rouge Parish, Berwick, Port Allen, and Walker.
  • $27.4 million for Donaldsonville, Morgan, Alexandria, Carencro, Woodsworth, Montpelier, and East Feliciana Parish.
  • $14.9 million for Colfax, Plaquemine, Elizabeth, Morganza, Patterson, Montgomery, Washington, Moreauville, and Basile.

Cassidy was joined by Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) in introducing the legislation.
