Chicago - Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Clark County State's Attorney Kyle Hutson today announced that a former township clerk was sentenced to five years in prison and ordered to pay approximately $168,000 in restitution for misusing township funds by spending them on personal expenses.
Kimberly Grable, 46, of Marshall, Illinois was sentenced by Clark County Presiding Judge Tracy W. Resch on Monday after pleading guilty to a Class 3 felony charge of official misconduct. Grable was sentenced to five years in prison and ordered to pay restitution to Dolson Township in the amount of $168,645.32.
"Elected officials such as township clerks are rightfully held to a higher standard and expected to carry out their duties with integrity on behalf of the taxpayers they serve," Raoul said. "My office is committed to ensuring individuals are held accountable when they violate the public's trust by taking advantage of their role for their own person gain."
Grable was elected as the Dolson township clerk in April 2025 and subsequently gained access to the township's physical checkbooks. Between April and August 2025, Grable used $168,645 in township funds for personal expenses, including paying off personal debts.
The Illinois State Police (ISP) led the investigation into Grable's misconduct.
Assistant Attorney General Haley Bookhout prosecuted the case for Raoul's Public Integrity Bureau along with Clark County State's Attorney Kyle Hutson.
