Sen. Clint Dixon Introduces Legislation Codifying Federal Income Tax Program

ATLANTA (February 4, 2026) - On Monday, Sen. Clint Dixon (R-Mulberry) introduced Senate Bill 446, legislation that would codify Georgia's participation in the federal school choice tax program. This program allows individuals to receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit of up to $1,700 per individual or $3,400 per couple, per year, for donations made to a Scholarship Granting Organization.

"This measure ensures Georgia permanently participates in the federal tax credit scholarship program, building on the success of the Georgia Promise Scholarship and other school choice initiatives. By expanding flexibility and real options for families, we are moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach to education that simply doesn't work. I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass this important legislation and continue putting Georgia's parents and students first."

This program was created by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, passed by Congress in 2025, but requires states to opt in. SB 446 will make Georgia's current enrollment permanent regardless of any future leadership shifts.
