I-94 resurfacing in southwest Michigan starts Sept. 8
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and contractor Rieth Riley Construction Co. Inc. will be resurfacing several locations on I-94 between Sawyer Road Exit 12 in Berrien County and Helmer Road Exit 95 in Calhoun County.
The $740,000 investment includes hot-mix asphalt cold milling and resurfacing, along with pavement markings, on a total of 1.6 miles of I-94 Berrien, Van Buren, Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties.
Work is scheduled to start Tuesday, Sept. 8, and is expected to be complete on Friday, Nov. 13.
Work will require daily single-lane closures. Lane closures during this type of work are necessary to provide the safest work area possible for crews and motorists. These improvements will provide drivers with a safer, smoother ride and extend the life of the road.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support six jobs.
