Havana Bridge inspection begins April 6

HAVANA - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that a routine inspection of the Scott W. Lucas Memorial Bridge carrying U.S. 136 and Illinois 78/97 over the Illinois River at Havana is scheduled for April 6.

The inspection is expected to last four days from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and will reduce the bridge to one lane with flaggers.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
