VIENNA, 8 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations (Vienna), Annika Ben David presented her credentials today to the Deputy Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) Chhaya Kapilashrami.
During her career, Ms. Ben David, who is also Ambassador-designate to Austria and Slovakia and Permanent Representative-designate to the International Organizations in Vienna, has served in various capacities, among them:
Deputy Director, Department for UN Policy, Conflict and Migration, Ministry for Foreign Affairs (2024-2025); Ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro (2021-2024); Ambassador for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law (2016-2021); Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (2013-2016); Head of Section, Central, Eastern and Southern Africa, Africa Department, Ministry for Foreign Affairs (2010-2013); Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel (2006-2010); Deputy Director, Department for International Law, Human Rights and Treaty Law, Ministry for Foreign Affairs (2004-2006); First Secretary, Embassy in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania (2000-2004); Second Secretary, Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel (1997-2000); Desk Officer and Diplomatic Training Programme (1995-1996); and Associate Protection Officer, UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) Geneva and Regional Office for the Baltic and Nordic Countries, Stockholm (1994-1995).
Ms. Ben David holds a Master's degree in international relations from the Institut de Hautes Études Internationales, Geneva and a Master's degree in political science from Uppsala University.
She speaks English, French and Swedish.
