Washington - Business Roundtable CEO Joshua Bolten today issued the following statement on the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act:
"Business Roundtable urges the House to pass the bipartisan SPEED Act swiftly. This legislation would take an important step toward fixing the broken permitting process by clarifying National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements, improving environmental reviews and bringing common sense to judicial challenges.
"Modernizing the federal permitting system is one of the most powerful actions policymakers can take to strengthen America's competitiveness and economy. Business Roundtable applauds Chairman Westerman and Representative Golden for their leadership on this issue, and we stand ready to continue working with both chambers of Congress and the Administration to pass comprehensive, durable permitting reforms."
