Thales is sharing its Integrated Weapons Operation (IWO) system for the first time publicly at DSEI this week. The solution, a command and control (C2) system designed to connect with any sensor and any effector, is Thales' response to providing a solution for the UK Strategic Defence Review's plan for a Digital Targeting Web at the tactical level.
IWO is powered by Thales' Agile C4I at the Edge (ACE) and uses common messaging to communicate between systems. This allows for a wide range of systems to be flexibly connected to one another, allowing operators to mix and match, depending on the operational requirement and equipment available. ACE is used as the core engine that tasks the connected systems, which could include surveillance platforms or effectors.
Thales aims to set the standard for C2 capability in the UK that will enable the flexibility for different solutions from across the industry to all connect with each other.
