Institute Report Highlights Best Practices in Mobile Health

Essential Hospitals Institute has released a new report highlighting how five essential hospitals strengthened and expanded their mobile health care programs through a grant-funded learning collaborative.

Delivering Care Beyond Hospital Walls: Best Practices in Mobile Health illustrates the value of mobile health care delivery, particularly for the patients and communities essential hospitals serve, and showcases the innovative work of participating hospitals. The report also shares key lessons learned, practical strategies, and actionable insights gained throughout the learning collaborative process for health systems seeking to build or scale mobile care programs.

From February to November 2025, collaborative members engaged in peer learning sessions focused on best practices in mobile health care delivery, including strategies for obtaining leadership support, securing sustained staffing and funding, and demonstrating impact through data and outcomes measurement. The report features programs from:

  • Carilion Clinic, Roanoke, Va.
  • East Alabama Health, Opelika, Ala.
  • Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, Ala.
  • UVA Health, Charlottesville, Va.
  • WVU Medicine, Morgantown, W.Va.
