Georgia DOT Awards SR 25 at Darien River Bridge Replacement Project
Mclntosh County- The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) announces Scott Bridge Company, Inc. and Michael Baker International, Inc. as the Apparent Successful Proposer for the SR 25 at Darien River Bridge Replacement Project.

Price Proposals from two proposers were opened on September 29, 2026, with Scott Bridge Company, Inc. and Michael Baker International, Inc. announced as the Apparent Successful Proposer in a virtual bid opening event. Georgia DOT used a Two-Phase Best Value procurement method for the Design-Build project, which assesses the proposer's price and technical proposals. The Apparent Successful Proposer is the responsive proposer chosen from the shortlist of two firms who received the highest combined price and technical proposal score.

The successful proposer is tasked with designing and constructing a new, wider and taller bridge crossing the Darien River in McIntosh County, Georgia. The existing bridge was constructed in 1944, not meeting current design standards. The newly constructed bridge will feature a shared use path and sidewalk and be adjusted to meet current vertical clearance requirements.

"This project has been a coordinated effort with the City of Darien to deliver new and improved infrastructure that supports the region and its needs," says Rick O'Hara P.E., Georgia DOT Project Manager. "We're excited to provide the updated structure to motorists in McIntosh County and are confident in Scott Bridge Company, Inc. and Michael Baker International, Inc.'s ability to deliver a successful project to those drivers. Following the project's redesign to better accommodate the needs of the community, we are looking forward to kicking off construction and completing this key improvement."

Throughout construction, both crews and the project team will work to maintain traffic flow of the bridge and minimize traffic impacts on local travelers.

Notice to Proceed (NTP) 1 is anticipated later this year. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2027.
