OCALA, Fla. (Oct. 14, 2026) - The City of Ocala will host a public meeting Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Marion County Growth Services Training Room, 2710 E. Silver Springs Blvd., to provide information and gather community feedback on the Downtown Ocala Trail project.
The proposed trail will span approximately 6.2 miles, connecting the existing Osceola Avenue multimodal trail in downtown Ocala to Silver Springs State Park. The project aims to expand Marion County's regional trail network and provide additional opportunities for walking, bicycling and other nonmotorized transportation.
Where feasible, the trail will feature an 8- to 12-foot-wide paved, multiuse path, with some sections utilizing existing roadways and sidewalks. The project will also incorporate wayfinding signage to help users navigate the trail. All pedestrian facilities and amenities will be designed to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
The project is currently in the design phase, with funding provided through the Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) federally funded Local Agency Program (LAP).
Nearby property owners, business owners, community organizations and residents are encouraged to attend the meeting, learn more about the proposed trail and provide feedback to help inform the project's design.
