AI the next frontier in space technology and services

Taking place 19-23 January, EUSPA AI Week is set to showcase how Artificial Intelligence is revolutionising the space downstream market.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming a driving force across all sectors, and space is no exception.

"By enabling everyday applications and improving the way we interact and obtain information and services, AI is redefining how users here on Earth use space technology and services," says EUSPA Executive Director Rodrigo da Costa.

Recognising AI's immense potential to enable, even revolutionise, the space downstream market, EUSPA is organising the EUSPA AI Week.

Through funding initiatives like Horizon Europe, Fundamental Elements, or CASSINI, EUSPA has already provided financial and mentoring support to various projects leveraging AI. This includes projects like FUTUREFOR project using AI to better understand, monitor, and protect Europe's forests or DREAM, which focuses on improving GNSS accuracy and resilience by leveraging Galileo features together with AI techniques to detect spoofing, multipath, and Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS)conditions, and ensuring reliable ambiguity. resolution

Over a dozen of these projects will be showcased during EUSPA AI Week.

During the virtual event, scheduled for 19 - 23 January, each project will provide a brief overview of its work and share how it is using AI to address a specific topic relevant to the space downstream sector. Topics include:

• Advancing AI in space downstream applications
• AI for crisis management
• AI enabling practical environmental tools
• AI in mobility
• AI for municipal and industry applications
