Stars of Energy Efficiency Celebrated at Alliance to Save Energy Gala

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C. - Last night, the Alliance to Save Energy (ASE) celebrated the past year's most influential leaders in energy efficiency at its 33rd Stars of Energy Efficiency Gala.

The Gala represents an opportunity to celebrate award winners, network with energy efficiency influencers and enjoy an evening of music and connection. The theme of this year's event is the efficiency sphere, symbolic of the fact that all were in the same space working together to create an energy future that is truly affordable, accessible and conducive to a strong economy.

"There has never been a more important time to embrace energy efficiency," Alliance President Paula Glover said. "With the United States set to shatter records for electricity demand this and next year, and energy being increasingly unaffordable for millions of Americans, it's time to get serious and embrace efficiency as the fastest, lowest cost way to address what is now an energy crisis."

"What matters more than a number is what it represents," Calvin Butler, president and CEO of Exelon Corp. said during his keynote speech about the company's more than $1 billion commitment to energy efficiency. "It represents a family paying less on the utility bills. It represents small businesses staying open and growing. It represents a grid that is stronger, more resilient, and better prepared for the future. And it reflects something that we believe at Exelon. That the cleanest and cheapest and most reliable kilowatt, is the one that you never have to generate."

Alliance Co-Chairs Sens. Robert Portman and Jeanne Shaheen were awarded the Charles H. Percy Award for Public Service. Named for Senator Charles H. Percy, co-founder of the Alliance, this award reflects a legacy of bipartisan leadership and enduring dedication to strengthening the nation's energy future through thoughtful policy and public service. Sens. Shaheen and Portman serve as co-chairs of the Alliance's Honorary Board of Advisors and were instrumental in creating policies that supported massive growth in energy efficiency.

Also receiving awards last night were:

· New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell, the Chairman's Award.

· Commonwealth Edison, the Power & Utilities Award.

· Consolidated Edison, the Community Engagement and Education Award.

· Lucid Motors, the Transportation and Infrastructure Award.

· Aeroseal, the Built Environment Award.

· The Brattle Group, the Innovation & Analysis Award.

· Tiana McCargo, Teacher at the Edward T. Bowser School of Excellence, East Orange, NJ, the Guiding Star Award.

Awardees were selected by an independent panel of experts who work in a cross section of efficiency sectors.

"I'm honored to receive the Chairman's Award from the Alliance to Save Energy and proud to see New Jersey's leadership in energy recognized," said Lieutenant Governor Caldwell. "We're charting an innovative path forward and building toward a modern energy infrastructure that delivers sustainability, reliability and affordability. Efficiency is an important part of that mission. It's not just about modernizing; it's also about driving job growth, upskilling our workforce, and creating strong, homegrown talent pipelines that support an inclusive economy."

"We are grateful to be recognized by an organization that is a leading international authority on energy efficiency (EE)," said Gill Quiniones, president & CEO at ComEd. "ComEd boasts one of the nation's largest EE programs, and for years we have been helping customers reduce consumption and costs, lowering household energy burden by roughly 25%. Since we launched the EE program in 2008, we saved customers enough electricity to power 12 million ComEd homes for one year, while taking over $13 billion off our customers' bills and avoiding 77 billion pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere."
