Rep. Subramanyam Issues Statement on U.S. Citizen and Marine Veteran Detained by ICE

Leesburg, VA - Today, U.S. Representative Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10) issued a statement after a social media post stated that ICE detained a U.S. citizen and Marine veteran in Loudoun County, Virginia.

Rep. Subramanyam issues the following statement:

"I am appalled by the recent ICE targeting of a U.S. citizen and Marine veteran here in Loudoun County. This is not how America should treat our veterans. Our servicemembers deserve our utmost respect, and they and their families should not be targeted by federal immigration agents. This administration said they were going to go after the worst of the worst, but instead ICE continues to target law abiding, non-violent members of our community, including American citizens.

My team and I are engaging with the individual who brought this to our attention. I am demanding a full investigation, and I will continue providing support to our community during this time. We need to end this madness. Enough is enough," Congressman Suhas Subramanyam said.

Rep. Suhas Subramanyam previously introduced legislation to require ICE to publicly report on their enforcement actions, including the number of people detained who have criminal convictions.

Since the start of the second Trump administration, there have been at least 30 shootings involving federal immigration agents. A citizen from Prince William County who previously voted for Trump was detained by ICE while they were looking for someone else. Ms. Carolina Molina, another constituent of Rep. Subramanyam's, had a firearm pulled on her by an ICE agent without justification. Another Northern Virginia resident was walking to work when federal immigration agents assaulted him, leading to a brain injury.
