Ameren alerting customers to be aware of new emerging solar scam targeting customers
Deceptive scammers impersonating Ameren vendor to install solar panels
ST. LOUIS (Sept. 25, 2025) - Ameren customers should be aware of an emerging solar panel installation scam growing in the area. The scam most often occurs through direct phone calls to customers, with scammers claiming to represent Ameren or an official partner of the company.
"Over the last several weeks, we have received numerous reports of widespread scam activity in our area related to solar panel installations," said Carlos Ross, security manager for Ameren. "These deceptive individuals or companies are targeting our customers and claiming that they are affiliated with or represent Ameren, which is deceptive and not accurate."
