(Clinton, Tenn., June 18, 2026) - U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Tennessee State Director Patrick Jaynes joined Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank to mark the official start of construction of the new animal shelter, supported by a $5.9 million loan through USDA's Community Facilities Program.
The new animal shelter replaces the county's outdated metal building, which has long been insufficient for the community's needs.
"This investment demonstrates President Trump and USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins' ongoing commitment to strengthening rural communities by supporting their essential services." said Jaynes. "The new animal shelter will bring modern, efficient, and humane care to the county, and we are honored to stand with local leaders as this project moves from vision to reality."
The new facility's layout creates dedicated spaces for staff operations, animal care, and public interaction, enhancing safety, workflow, and the overall adoption experience. This long-needed improvement strengthens animal services, supports responsible pet ownership, and provides a more welcoming environment for families considering adoption.
