A4A Launches New "Red, Flight and Blue" Campaign to Celebrate America's 250th

June 10, 2026

Airline Industry's Contributions to the U.S. Are Highlighted in Videos, Website and Social Media

WASHINGTON, June 9, 2026 - In celebration of 250 years of America's independence, Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, is launching a new "Red, Flight and Blue-Celebrating America's 250th" campaign.

The campaign consists of digital assets including multiple videos, a website (https://www.RedFlightAndBlue.org) in addition to patriotic social media posts and blog posts that will be published throughout the summer months.

America's 250th Video

The campaign is anchored by an original video celebrating the essential role of aviation in U.S. history and highlighting how the airline industry has transformed the course of our country by democratizing air travel and increasing dependability of air cargo shipments.

Beginning with the Wright Brothers' first flight in 1903, the video recounts the rise of air transportation as a fundamental driver of innovation and commerce. Early air mail flights connected rural communities in ways that had never been possible. The 1950s saw the dawn of the jet age, but air travel was primarily enjoyed by the wealthy. The Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 democratized air travel, making it accessible and affordable.

Today, nearly 90 percent of Americans have flown, half before their 16th birthday. Every day, U.S. airlines operate more than 28,000 flights, servicing nearly 80 countries, carrying 2.7 million passengers and transporting 61,000 tons of invaluable cargo shipments including pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, fresh food, electronics, clothing and more.

Honoring Veterans

The campaign also spotlights how U.S. airlines support and honor service members. A4A member airlines proudly employ 56,000 men and women who served or are currently serving in the U.S. military in the reserves or guard. Additionally, U.S. airlines offer benefits to servicemembers and their families including free checked baggage, priority boarding and reduced fares.

Several airlines fly veterans who served in combat to see our nation's monuments and memorials, including those in Washington, D.C. A4A has produced a compilation video highlighting some of those Honor Flights and the veterans who work in the airline industry.

Social Media

In addition to sharing the campaign's videos on social media, interviews and testimonials will be posted. A4A's social channels will also feature how individual airlines are celebrating-such as patriotic liveries-and will profile historic figures who made lasting impacts to the aviation community, including aeronautical pioneers and early pilots. The social media posts-which will appear on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter/X-will be framed with a stars-and-stripes design and will use the hashtag #RedFlightAndBlue.
