Police lay charges in theft of motor vehicle

Police have charged a woman for theft of a motor vehicle and a collision involving a police vehicle that occurred earlier this week in Halifax.

On January 19 at approximately 6:30 a.m. officers responded to a report that a truck had been stolen from a residence in the 5600 block of Fenwick Street in Halifax. At approximately 7:20 a.m. officers located the truck on Chebucto Road and attempted a traffic stop; however, the driver did not stop and struck a marked police vehicle. As the driver continued to flee, they struck another responding marked police vehicle and then struck a third vehicle on the road that was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Connaught Avenue and Quinpool Road. At approximately 7:40 a.m., with assistance from the K9 Unit, officers located and arrested the driver. There were no reports of any physical injuries.
