Finstad, Minnesota Republican Congressional Delegation Urge Senators Klobuchar and Smith to Reopen Government

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Brad Finstad (MN-01) joined House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (MN-06), Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08), and Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach (MN-07) in sending a letter to U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Tina Smith (D-MN), pressing them to end the Democrats' government shutdown and to vote in favor of the clean, nonpartisan continuing resolution (CR). To date, Sens. Klobuchar and Smith have voted five times to block the clean, nonpartisan CR from moving in the Senate.

"This clean continuing resolution, which came with no policy riders, has been supported on a bipartisan basis thirteen times during the Biden Administration. It was also supported by Democrats just six months ago," wrote the representatives. "It is unjust and irresponsible to hold the federal government hostage for partisan programs that are completely unrelated to government funding, including providing noncitizens with free healthcare, bailing out liberal news programs, and reversing provisions in the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, all of which total $1.5 trillion in additional spending."
