The City of Fairfield is excited to welcome high school students (ages 14-17) and their chaperones from its Sister City, Nirasaki, Japan, as part of the annual Fairfield-Nirasaki Exchange Program. This long-standing cultural exchange fosters international friendship and mutual understanding, offering Fairfield residents the unique opportunity to share their homes, traditions, and community spirit.
The exchange program will take place from November 29 to December 16, 2025. During their stay, Nirasaki students and chaperones will attend classes at local high schools, explore historical and cultural sites throughout the Bay Area, and participate in weekday activities organized by the City. Evenings and weekends will be spent with host families-offering a meaningful, firsthand experience of daily life in Fairfield.
Host Families Needed
The City is currently seeking host families for both students and adult chaperones. Hosting a guest is a meaningful way to build cross-cultural connections and create lifelong memories-for your family and our international visitors. All host families must:
• Complete an application
• Undergo fingerprinting and background checks (required for all adults in the household)
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Families interested in applying can find the Host Family Application and FAQs on the City's website at fairfield.ca.gov/sistercity.
