City of Riverside Invites Artists to Participate in "America 250 City Art Poster Project" to Celebrate Nation's 250th Anniversary

Entries due by April 26

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The City of Riverside is inviting artists to participate in the America 250 City Art Poster Project, a nationwide initiative led by the U.S. Conference of Mayors in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Artists of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to submit original artwork that reflects the community's unique identity, history, and vision for the future. All entries must be submitted by Sunday, April 26.

"The arts have always played an important role in telling the story of who we are as a community," Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson said. "Through the America 250 City Art Poster Project, we have an opportunity to celebrate Riverside's history, creativity, and optimism for the future. I invite artists of all backgrounds and skill levels to take part and help us showcase the spirit of our city."

The America 250 City Art Poster Project provides an opportunity for communities across the country to celebrate civic pride and highlight the vital role of the arts in shaping and expressing local culture. Riverside's selected artwork will represent our city featured alongside submissions from cities across the United States.

Submission Details

All artwork must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Designs must incorporate the name "Riverside" and "America 250" within the designs.
  • Artwork should commemorate the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence and reflect themes of civic pride, historical connection, and optimism for the future.
  • Submissions must remain non-partisan and may not include political or inflammatory content.
  • Submittals must be submitted in person or as a high-quality PDF format.

  • Design: 22 in. (w) X 30 in. (h)

National Recognition

Riverside's selected poster will be submitted as the City's official entry and showcased at national events hosted by the U.S. Conference of Mayors, 94th Annual Meeting in Long Beach, California. Selected works will also be featured in national print and digital publications. All submissions may be used for local community posters.
