Folsom, Calif. (October 2, 2025) - Dignity Health today celebrated the groundbreaking of its new Advanced Ambulatory Care Center (AACC) at Folsom Ranch, a state-of-the-art facility that will expand Dignity Health's footprint and bring a wide range of specialty and outpatient services to one of the region's fastest-growing communities.
Dignity Health leadership, city officials, and community representatives gathered at the future site on Alder Creek Parkway and McCarthy Way for a ceremonial shovel turning and unveiling of conceptual renderings. The new center represents the first phase of a multi-year development that could ultimately grow into a full medical campus serving Folsom and the greater Sacramento region.
The AACC will include an outpatient surgery center, specialty services, and integrated technology such as telehealth and home monitoring, ensuring patients have access to convenient and innovative care close to home. Thoughtfully designed to reflect Folsom's identity as "Distinctive by Nature," the building will blend health and wellness with the surrounding environment, offering space for preventive care, advanced procedures, and family-centered health.
"This groundbreaking marks a pivotal moment for Dignity Health, Folsom and the greater Sacramento region," said Lisa Hausmann, President & CEO of Mercy Hospital of Folsom. "For more than 35 years, Dignity Health has been proud to care for this community, and the Advanced Ambulatory Care Center reflects our commitment to building on our legacy. As Folsom and the surrounding communities continue to grow, we stand ready to grow with it."
The design of the facility is being led by Perkins&Will, a global architecture and design firm renowned for creating innovative, human-centered environments. The developer is NexCore Group - an award-winning, national healthcare real estate investment and development firm, and the builder is Northern California-based XL Construction. Dignity Health announced its selection of the project design team and developer in May 2024, underscoring its commitment to thoughtful planning and long-term community investment.
The facility is expected to open in summer 2027 and, once fully operational, will employ hundreds of full-time staff.
"The Advanced Ambulatory Care Center is the first step in a long-term vision for a comprehensive medical campus at Folsom Ranch," said Rob Marchuk, Dignity Health Market President, Physician Enterprise - Sacramento. "By integrating outpatient surgery, multi-specialty care, and modern technology, this facility will provide patients and families with convenient access to exceptional care in a setting that reflects the community's character. It's an investment in health, access, and innovation for decades to come."
This milestone underscores Dignity Health's ongoing commitment to expanding access to care across California, where it operates 29 major hospital campuses and has extensive expertise in master-planned health care projects of all sizes.
